Inclusion & Diversity

We are guided by an inclusive purpose - to strengthen connections, broaden horizons and bridge divides for our employees, partners, customers, and communities.

Travel opens minds and drives better understanding between people from different cultures and identities – something the world needs today like never before. And travel fuels the health of communities that welcome travelers across generations.

We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, color, national origin, age, disability (physical or mental), sexual orientation, gender identity, parental status, marital status, family status, and beliefs as well as gender expression, mental illness, socioeconomic status or background, neuro(a)typicality, or physical appearance. We’re united by our values, and we celebrate our unique differences.

In a highly competitive tourism landscape, connecting local hosts (and as such their local experiences) to travelers from around the world is a formidable challenge for small to medium sized enterprises. Leveraging on Expedia’s platform however has helped us to bring the two worlds closer together, thus, allowing us to focus on continuing to deliver great local experiences to travelers from the world over!

- Backstreet Academy

We not only partner with Expedia Group to connect our guest from around the world to unique ports of call but we also craft one of a kind experiences to exclusive destinations such as Perfect Day at CoCo Cay for our guests to enjoy unique cruise adventures and experiences within. This private island destination in the Bahamas has brought increased tourism to the area, creating jobs and security for the Bahamian people, their families and the overall community. We strive to create the best experiences for our traveling guests and make the places we visit more sustainable too!

At Expedia Group’s partners conference, thousands of attendees donned vivid, handmade lanyards from the Suku Laut women of Berakit and Kawal in Bintan Island, Indonesia. These lanyards were not just a vibrant means to display our names and companies, they were a critical display of Expedia Group’s commitment to bringing the world within reach by supporting local economies around the globe. Working with Island Foundation of Singapore, each handwoven lanyard supported the charity’s education and literacy program, lifting the next generation.

“As one of the world’s leading travel companies, Leonard Cheshire were delighted to partner with Expedia Group on an industry report outlining how travel providers can create inclusive and accessible products and services for travellers with disabilities. Through this collaboration, Leonard Cheshire witnessed first-hand Expedia Group’s vision, drive and determination to not only influence the wider industry but become a truly inclusive organization themselves. We are excited about how the report learning can be actioned and built upon and how Expedia Group will continue to impact the industry.”

At Expedia Group, we are guided by an inclusive purpose - to strengthen connections, broaden horizons and bridge divides for our employees, partners, customers, and communities. This inclusive purpose also extends to our Vendor Diversity Program and who we purchase our goods and services from.

As we work to ensure inclusion is at the center of our business, our Global Procurement team and its stakeholders are providing opportunities for businesses that are at least 51% owned, operated, and managed by historically marginalized, and underrepresented groups. These include Black, Latinx, Asian and Pacific Islander, and Indigenous people, as well as women, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, veterans, service-disabled veterans, and other socially or economically disadvantaged groups.

HOW WE FOSTER Inclusion & Diversity In Action

Activating a network of influential champions.

Comprised of global leaders within Expedia Group, the Advisory Council champions inclusion and diversity throughout all areas of our organization to ensure identities like race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, genetic information, mental disability, medical condition, marital status, sex, pregnancy, gender, gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation, and military or veteran status are not only protected, but celebrated.

Through volunteering on Diversity & Inclusion initiatives I was able to share my own very positive experiences of coaching as well as taking extended paternity leave. It has been hugely rewarding for me to see some folks taking on a coach with positive results as well as helping to dispel some of the perceived barriers to taking extended paternity leave.

As a driven, working mother, I’m extremely passionate about a strong work ethic while remaining family centric. Working with our D&I team has been such an amazing experience. I was able to help host a joint D.C. and Boston Pride event where many of us were moved to tears through touching stories and examples of how we can all be allies. I am excited to continue working with D&I to make Expedia Group a great place for everyone to work.
