The following language applies to vacation rentals booked on any Expedia Group brand sites.
At the time of booking, hosts may request one of the following: a card on file, an upfront refundable damage deposit or that you purchase property damage protection to cover potential damage and/or incidentals at the property as part of their property rental pricing. If a guest, someone they invite, or a pet causes damage during a stay, the host can claim these damages from the included option upon completion of the reservation. Examples of damages that can be claimed include: broken glass/appliances, damaged furniture, and additional cleaning costs (pet dander, smoking, etc.).
Usage-based fees or stay-collected fees (including damage deposits) can only be collected directly by the host if they are clearly detailed in the listing description and the guest is made aware prior to booking.
Please see “About Damage Deposits” to understand the different forms of deposits and how they function.
